Policies

The client is solely responsible for the payment of all medical bills for their pet and they release MMH its officers, directors, agents and independent contractors of and from any and all responsibility for claims, damages, debts, arising out of or related to such medical care, including, but not limited to, transportation to/from the veterinary clinic and choice of veterinarian and animal hospital.

Melissa’s Mutt Hutt reserves the right to immediately change your dog’s type of walking if we believe it is necessary to protect the health and well-being of your dog, other dogs, or our staff.

If your dog causes serious destruction to our leashes/cars/home during walks, transportation or boarding, MMH reserves the right to obtain reimbursement for the damage. If your dog is not potty trained for a boarding, cleaning charges might be applied.

All dogs must be healthy and current on all vaccinations. We will need a copy of your dog’s updated vaccination records from your vet before you start walking services with us to ensure your dog’s safety as well as that of our existing dogs. If your dog is exhibiting any symptoms that may suggest illness such as sneezing, coughing, wheezing, runny eyes or nose, vomiting, lethargy, or diarrhea, please let us know. Dogs with flea or tick problems are not allowed on boards.

MMH requires each dog walking client have a lock box on the clients property. We ask the client provide 2 copies of your key that are stored in the lock box. The client may provide their own lock box for MMH to use or MMH will provide a lock box for $42.50. The client may select their own code (and advice MMH what the code is) or MMH can select a code for the client at the time of the lock box purchase. If a key copy is required to be made by MMH it is a $10 fee.

The safety of your dog is the utmost concern. If we feel like we can not safely walk your dog with a harness, Gentle Leader or regular collar, we will use a prong collar or slip lead collar to maintain control of the walk.

Cancellation Policy:

MMH has a strict cancellation policy. Melissa email the office at Melissa@melissasmutthutt.com and/or via text at 310 435 9808.
Pet Sitting: has a 72-hour cancellation policy. If a cancellation is given with less than 72-hour notice, then there will be a 25% surcharge.

Daily Dog Walking: has a 24- hour cancellation policy. Please notify us of a cancellation with at least 24 hours notice or the full service fee will be applied. There will be a $25 late fee applied after 7 days if services were rendered without payment.

Initial Consultation Meeting:

The Initial Consultation Meeting is free with a dog walking / pet sitting schedule.

Holidays:

During pet sitting over major national holidays and the summer period between June 1-Sept 10 or for pet sitting reservations that are longer than 20 days in length, MMH cancellation policy is as follows:

3 or more days’ notice for cancellation: FULL REFUND GIVEN TO CLIENT.

2 days’ notice for cancellation: 50 % OF TOTAL FEE REFUNDED TO CLIENT.

24 hour or less notice for cancellation: NO REFUND GIVEN TO CLIENT.

Solicitation of MMH Staff:

Client agrees that the pet sitter provided by MMH is hired through MMH and is contracted to work only through and not directly through the individual client listed above. Client agrees that all reservations for present and future sitting and dog walking must be made through MMH and not the individual sitter. Client is aware that the MMH sitter may give out their personal number to the client. Client agrees to use this number only in the event of an emergency during which the sitter/walker is already contracted directly through MMH for Client. Client agrees that this number shall not be used for any solicitation of future pet sitting or dog walking. Client is aware that should this contract be broken, legal fees and misuse-of-staff charges will apply.

By submitting this form,

a. You indicate your agreement with all of the terms listed hereof,

b. You authorize Melissa’s Mutt Hutt to obtain medical and vaccination records for your dog from the veterinarian listed above and you hereby authorize your veterinarian to provide these records to MMH.

c. You release, indemnify, and agree to hold MMH harmless from any and all manner of damages, claims, loss, liabilities, costs or expenses, causes of actions or suits, whatsoever in law or equity, (including, without limitation, attorney’s fees and related costs) arising out of or related to the services proved by Melissa’s Mutt Hutt including, without limitation, (I) any inaccuracy in any statement made by yourself or information provided by you to Melissa’s Mutt Hutt, (ii) your dog, including but not limited to destruction of property, dog bites, injury and transmission of disease, and (iii) any action by yourself which is in breach of the terms and conditions of this agreement.

d. Injury by another animal to Client animal: MMH and its contracted staff will not be responsible for any animal that instigates fights with other animals or is injured by another animal while in MMH care and will take all appropriate actions to ensure that Client’s animals are not placed in the company of aggressive or violent animals and/or will immediately remove Client’s animals from any animal fight.

e. Injury or escape of animals: Client and sitter are aware that the highest level of care shall be given to any and all pets under care of the pet sitter employed by Melissa’s Mutt Hutt Client is aware that pet(s) are instinctual in nature and not always controllable by the sitter even when the highest level of care is given. Should the client’s animal run away or be injured the client agrees MMH will not be responsible for any liability. The above waiver of liability in favor of MMH shall not apply if the MMH sitter is found to have committed intentional misconduct.

f. Injury to Pet Sitter by Client’s Animals: Client agrees to pay the full cost of and all medical injuries should they arise as a result of the Client’s animal to the sitter.

g. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this contract, or the breach thereof, or as the result of any claim or controversy involving the alleged negligence by any party to this contract, shall be settled by arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, and judgment upon the award rendered by an arbitrator may be entered in any Court having jurisdiction thereof. The arbitrator shall, as part of his award, determine an award to the prevailing party of the costs of such arbitration and reasonable attorney’s fee of the prevailing party.

Payment

Melissa’s Mutt Hutt accepts Venmo, Discover, Visa and MasterCard and our clients must have a current valid Credit or Debit card on file with MMH. Please call Melissa at 310 546 0021 with the full name on the card, what kind of credit card it is (Visa, etc), the address it is registered to, the card number and the expiration date. We do not need your security code/CVC. If the card you have on file with MMH does not work, we need you to call the office with a new credit card number. Your credit card information is encrypted and MMH can only see the last 4 numbers once it is in our system. Cards will be charged each week PRIOR to the next weeks booked services. Cancellations must be sent to melissa@melissasmutthutt.com or via text 310 435 9808 in order to receive a credit which will be applied to future services. *If the card you have on file with MMH does not work, we need you call the offices with a new credit card number.

Pet Sitting and Boarding: Payments are due in-full at the time of booking via Visa, Discover, MasterCard or Venmo. Pet Sitting has a 72-hour cancellation policy. If a cancellation is given with less than 72-hour notice, then there will be a 25% surcharge. A credit will be applied for services cancelled with adequate notice.
Daily Dog Walking Clients: Payments are due the week prior to services, and services will not take place without payment. If the card you have on file is declined, you will receive an email and/or text notice, and have 48 hours to respond with a new card number or a resolved issue with the card on file, or services will cease until payment. Cancellations must be sent within 24 hours notice in order to receive a credit which will be applied to future services.

MMH reserves the right, without notice, to adjust its fees for services. By completing the credit card information online, you are authorizing us to automatically charge your credit card for services rendered.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. We may update the privacy policy from time to time without notice. The Information We Collect:

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on MMH online software program, Power Pet Sitter. The types of personal information collected are:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Credit/Debit Card Information
  • (etc.)

The Way We Use Information:

We use the information you provide about yourself only to provide our dog walking and pet sitting service to you.

We use email addresses for the purpose of transferring information to and from the client and walkers/pet sitters as well as newsletters from MMH and it’s marketing partners.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out.

Our Commitment To Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

If you were or currently are a client of MMH you can access all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by logging into Power Pet Sitter. Please contact us at melissa@melissasmutthutt.com if you need your login information. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information.
